    I like the Gen 1 turrets better , easier to see the graduations and markings . This Gen 2 Turret is a step backwards in visibility .

    So the rotation (horizontal) hash marks on the lowest- innermost (vertical measurements of the number of rotations) are meaningless?? The turret cannot be lowered to 0 to accurately track the rotations. Moving the internal turret from 19 to 7 also seems to be meaningless - the zero stop works just fine in either position and those numbers are not referenced in the field. Is the reticle disengaged from the inner turret when the screws are loosened? Some explanation of the mechanism could help.

    There's no such thing as "fliers". Same hole shots mean nothing. Shots will be randomly distributed within a "cone of fire" based on what your rifle / ammo / shooter is capable of. You have to shoot a minimum of 20-30 shots (with cooling) to get your extreme spread before you really know what you are capable of with that rifle / ammo combo. This is what we need to know before taking a long range shot on game. People that believe they are shooting a .5 to 1.0 MOA gun are most likely closer to 1.5". MOA guarantees are bogus. That only means they are able to produce a single 3 shot group. No way their guarantee will hold up over 30 shots.

    I got the Christensen Mesa 308. The gun operates great and feels great. Shoots amazing with factory ammo. It loves the federal fusion 165 and the Remington tipped corelock

    I think your second step is to turn the tour it all the way down before you zeroed in then you tighten the zero stop zero stop screws then you put your turn on zero but you don’t just zero then you have to start with your zero turn it all the way down

    Exactly what I was looking for. Took my late father in laws 7mm Rem Mag to the range, got it dialed in, then realized the whole zero stop thing after. Thought I might have to start from scratch, but was thinking through the process and this video just confirmed what I thought should be an easy adjustment. Will get on the range soon to try it out, but I don't see why it won't be right where I left it.

    I have this same rifle in 6.5cm as well. Do you have overheating barrel problems? I can shoot about 5 times and gotta stop for awhile. Its no problem as its a thin barrel but im just seeing what your tests showed

    I dont understand your question to kimber? You wanted them to tell you which chambering to choose? Thats your decision, if they tell you what to get then your unhappy they really get an earful. IDK maybe i misunderstood but i listened twice. Factory or handloads shouldn't matter. I have the mountain ascent in 30.06 for 5 years. I can do a 1 inch 3 shot group at 300 yds off a bag. They are great guns.

    Great Video !!! So I Just laser sighted my rifle at about 50 Yards (Neighbor house, LOL) I had to come up like 40 moa and now have the 3rd line up from zero on the Inner turret. Now when I put on my outer turret on it shows the 3rd line up since I went up 40 moa. It drives me crazy seeing the 3 line or 75 moa line instead of the true zero. Is there any way to make that inner Turret back to zero?

    Terrible safety on the one a checked out last week at the gun shop. Three position wing safety that was very stiff to move. No good for still hunting or trackers.

    Ah, Well here I am, apparently 6 years later from when this video was 1st posted. I ended up in scenario #2. Apparently I did not read, (hey I'm a guy, who thinks he doesn't need to fully read instructions), to make sure I started at the zero stop when I sighted in. I just assumed because the scope was set at the zero mark on the outer caps I was at zero and zero stop and I just went to normal sight in procedures. Not so with the zero stop, thus I had scenario #2 and my zero stop was not set correctly. Thanks for your explanation, it was very helpful. I gotta get better at fully reading the instructions first, before assuming I know what I am doing. Oh well live and learn.

    That second method is money. I was way to impatient trying this scope out on a rifle and way to short on time and trust to zero down the elevation turret initially lol

    With the second method, it seems alot "higher" than the first method. Is that nornal? Does that mean you lose range since its already drawn out so far and putti g you closer to the max that you can turn it? Or am i not understanding it right?

      I use as low as possible. The scope and rifle will dictate how low you can go. I use pic rails on all rifles that don't have integral rails these days and typically use a 1.0 ring.

    I guess I’m old. I’d never pack 100 pounds except for the Army, bless 11Bs. Even an elk bull rear 1/4 bone in isn’t sporting over 80 in my experience. Now a moose might be a different story, but I don’t doubt this pack will handle that too.

  • @algnojewski969
    @algnojewski969 Рік тому

    The broadwing is my do everything bag, from 4th season cold weather hunts to just day hikes with Rocky Mountain emergency gear and optics. It does get a lot quieter with use and I had no problem with noise on my 20 meter archery bull, but like I said I use it all the time not just hunting season. The pass through upper side pockets are awesome for tripods and spotting scopes. I usually have my tripod on one side and my rain gear on the other. I don’t need to put smaller items in the pass through pockets because I have hip belt pouches for need at hand items like my range finder or water purification drops and I have my talon for the rest. The lower side pockets are big enough for a Nalgene and a pair of gloves. The talon is what I consider an integrated and necessary part of the system. It compresses the whole pack for when I’m day hunting from my camp and yet keeps things easily accessible. Even though this is a break away pack for putting game bag’s between your pack frame and Main bag I never use it that way. I always put my game bags whether bone in elk quarters or loose meet between the talon and the pack bag. The limited items I carry on while hunting form a shelf at the bottom of the bag. Much easier to clean up after the hunt. I never carry my camp out and meat out at the same time so the break away concept is useless . If anything my last load will be my camp and skull after all that elk meat is in the coolers at my truck. If I would change anything, I would get rid of the pack bag zipper. I’ve been backpacking for damn near 30 years and I know how to pack my bag sequentially. I have never packed anything on the bottom of my pack except what I need last and that is my sleeping bag after I have my camp set up. So the main bag zipper is the most useless part of the pack. Otherwise from summer to winter this is my go to pack and I’m sorry to see seek outside has gone away from this pack style.

    In the second scenario, if I rotate the turret to the zero stop, then loosen the screws to rotate the turret to my zero, won't my zero be off since I rotated the turret to find the zero stop?

    • @RBoysMedia
      @RBoysMedia Рік тому

      In the video he used 19 as his zero stop and 7 as his zero. Already knowing that 7 is his zero, he went to the zero stop, loosened and adjusted to 7. Then retightened. That makes his zero on 0. Reason being is when he retightened it, he did not re zero it. It is still on the zero stop. Therefore going to 0 makes it zeroed.
